This design challenges the 'I am not my ancestors' rhetoric. While probably not intended to be disrespectful, the mantra can come across as a dig at the most traumatized, commodified, yet creative, strong-willed, resilient people to walk this land. It is a lie that our ancestors were a 'group of docile fools who were passive in their own kidnappings, enslavement, rapes, and murders' and we should not minimize their experience while proclaiming our support for the cause.
